April 2012
We held our Super Fabulous Pre-Owned Sale on Saturday, April 28th, and were blessed with some nice weather.
We had several board members and volunteers who helped with setup or donated items for sale.

March 2012
The Phoenix Group and Junbi Now hosted an exciting weekend of TaeKwon-Do during March 16-18, 2012, in Houston, Texas. The events included:
Master Class
Over 170 students, instructors, and masters attended the six-hour seminar taught by ITF President GM Choi Jung Hwa, son of the founder of TaeKwon-Do. President Choi and Master Parm Rai, the chairman of the ITF technical committee, focused much of the class time on proper delivery of power in each technique. They, along with other master instructors, moved through the group to provide personal attention.
2012 ITF World Championship USA Qualifier
On Sunday, March 18th, we held the USA Qualifier where 98 competitors successfully qualified to represent Team USA and travel to Ottawa, Canada for the 2012 ITF World Championships.
January 2012
On January 18th, Junbi Now black belt volunteers and Master William Howard went onsite to The Reynolds & Reynolds Company in Houston, TX, to conduct a 2-hour introductory self defense class for associates and their family members
The class started off with basic assumptions that you should be prepared for in the event you are attacked. Each technique was explained and demonstrated, then students paired up to practice what they had learned. The techniques taught included release moves to break free of an attacker, effective counterattacks to direct at multiple vulnerable areas depending on the type of attack, and how to use the attacker’s momentum against them.
Master Howard discussed situational awareness and the best ways to avoid being an ‘easy target’. He also explained some of the legal guidelines in the state of Texas, so students understood the ramifications of their own defending actions.
December 2011
On December 3rd, we held the first annual Stop, Drop, and Shop event at the Global TaeKwon-Do facility. It was a big hit! Parents got to do a little uninterrupted holiday shopping while their kids enjoyed electronic 
games, board games, fun activites, dinner, and a movie.

September 2011
The Party with Team USA event the night of September 10th was a success. The kids enjoyed the rock climbing walls, the swinging ropes, the wooden maze, and a brisk game of dodgeball. We heard things like “This is so awesome!” and “I want to get to the top. Hook me up!” Of course, the yummy pizza and watching The Karate Kid were also big hits.
Junbi Now sends a big thank you to Sam Sann, owner of Iron Sports, for allowing us to host our lock-in at his facility. Check it out! They have a wide array of activities, classes, and more!
Another big thanks go to Dale Moehnke and Jimmy Reel at Papa Johns for hooking us up with a good deal on some great pizza!
July 2011
On July 2nd, Junbi Now attended the Freedom Festival in Fulshear, TX. We hosted an informational booth to promote TaeKwon-Do, our mission, and the local Guardian TKD school opening soon after the event.
We attracted a lot of attention walking around in our TKD doboks, and held a brief demonstration of patterns, model sparring, and self-defense techniques in the late afternoon.
And then the real fun began…
Because of the burn-ban in effect in Texas, there were no fireworks that evening. That didn’t stop us from requesting special permission from the fire marshall to perform a series of firebreaks after the sun went down.
With the lights doused, the DJ blaring “Highway to Hell” from AC | DC, and flames reaching eyebrow level or higher, eight of our students blasted through stacks of boards and tiles.
It was definitely a big hit with the crowd!
