A nonprofit organization’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of our clients.  Our last large campaign drive was for the 2010 International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF) World Championships.

The ITF World Championships were held in Seoul, Korea in July, 2010.  Team USA consisted of 75 competitors from across the nation.  Out of those competitors, Junbi Now volunteers raised funds to help a group of 11 Texans from the Phoenix Group INO with their registration fees, uniforms, and travel expenses.

Team USA was impressive, as evidenced by the results (there’s that word again):

Individual events – USA won 35 medals, including 5 gold medals.
Team events – USA won 12 medals, including 5 gold medals.

In future campaigns, we hope to raise enough contributions to help other members of the Phoenix Group outside of Texas.  We also hope to help pay for some of the team event registrations for the entire USA team!

Here’s what people are saying about Junbi Now:

My experiences in South Korea in 2010 would never have been possible without the help and support of Junbi Now.  This nonprofit provided me with the opportunity to travel the world and represent my country with some of my closest friends.  Being a college student really puts a strain on anything you want to participate in.  There is nothing like having a dream, having a goal you know you could achieve if only you had the right support behind you. I knew there would be no way for me to pay for all my competition and travel expenses on my own.  When Junbi Now approached me saying they could help cover some of the costs, I was overjoyed; my years of hard work had finally paid off!  I was so excited that they could see the potential I knew I possessed.

Korea was a life-changing experience.  For 10 days, I got to experience an entirely different universe, full of a different language, food, and way of life.  There were competitors from many countries all in one place, sharing in one thing we all love, ITF TaeKwon-Do.  I had so much fun meeting people from other nations and talking with them about their journey to get to the World Championships.

I will never forget standing on the center stage in the finals for women’s team patterns competition with cameras all around, wearing USA proudly across my back.  Our performance was broadcast on ESPN Korea, live, for all to see.  ITF TaeKwon-Do had finally made it home to its birth place and the world was watching Team USA do it.  That would never have been possible if I had been on my own.

I am so grateful to Junbi Now for giving me the opportunity to prove to myself and the entire world what TaeKwon-Do in the United States looks like.  Thank you, Junbi Now!!!
